Socialism and Capitalism Unite for the Virtual Office

The history of the shared office space may seem new as it is more prevalent in modern society due to financial and environmental impacts of the last few years but it roots started long ago. Many regard “Servcorp” as the mother of the Virtual Office but the shared workspace and sharing of resources dates back to the dawn of civilized man. Capitalism and Socialism intertwine for a progressive approach of incorporating the corporate world with communal ideals. The technologies of the new century have allowed us to evolve to this hybrid state just at the time when Capitalism had seemed to fail us and Socialism was a neglected pipedream.

The office was the cornerstone of any successful commercial establishment from corporate finance to trade. Technology has changed this. There were 600,000 home computers installed in the mid eighties and in the mid nineties that number increased to 37 million PC’s being sold every year. Cities in Maryland

Located in the Mid Atlantic region of the U.S.A., Maryland is home to 5.6 million Americans. The state capital is Annapolis and the most populous area is the city of Baltimore. It borders Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia to the south and west, Pennsylvania to the north and Delaware to the east. Maryland is also known as the “Old Line State” and the “Free State” as well. There are over 300 biotechnology firms in the state the third largest in the nation.

After his failure in Newfoundland’s Avalon colony, George Calvert made an application to Charles the first for a new royal charter for what was to become the Province of Maryland in 1629. The interest was to create a haven for Catholics in the new world and the pursuit of the financial gains to be made from tobacco plantations. When he died in 1632 the charter was granted to his son. The new colony was named after the Queen Consort of Charles, Henrietta Maria.

In 1634 Lord Baltimore bought the first settlers into the area, mostly Protestants. However it soon became the only place in America where Catholics held most of the positions of authority. Maryland was one of the thirteen states to revolt against the British and in 1788 became the seventh state admitted to the United States of America.

The Star Spangled Banner was penned by Francis Scott Key during the 1812 war when the British tried to take control of Port Baltimore.

During the civil war 77% of the enlisted men from the state enrolled to fight for the Union. This shows that talks of possible succession from pro-slavery opponents were greatly miscalculating the feelings in the general populations’ stance on Lincoln’s abolition legislation. Lincoln went as far as to jail pro-south petitioners and removed the habeas corpus rights during the supposed succession plans.

German (15.7%), Irish (11.7%), English (9%), unspecified American (5.8%), and Italian (5.1%) are the five largest reported ancestries in Maryland.

Maryland households are the wealthiest in the country with an average earning of $68, 080 each year. The economic activity of the state is mainly focused on the tertiary sector and is strongly influenced by location. The Port of Baltimore handles the 10th largest amount of tonnage in the country with the most typical imports being raw materials and bulk commodities.

The service of technical and administrative tasks for the defense/aerospace industry and bio-research laboratories, satellite government headquarters in the Baltimore/Washington areas. John Hopkins University and with its many medical research facilities is currently the largest employer in the Baltimore area.

Maryland has a large food production area with commercial fishing; agriculture and chicken farming are the major industries within this. Tobacco growing has been around Maryland since its origins and is still prosperous to the region currently.

There are plenty of professional sporting teams with two major metropolitan areas within the state. In the NFL there are the Baltimore Ravens and the Washington Redskins. In the MLB there are the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals representing the state. The Washington Capitals in the NHL and the Washington Wizards in the NBA make for total representation across the major codes in American sport. Notable sports stars to of hailed from the state are Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken Jnr. The official state sport is jousting.
