Capitalism and Socialism intertwine for a progressive approach of incorporating the corporate world with communal ideals. The technologies of the new century have allowed us to evolve to this hybrid state just at the time when Capitalism had seemed to fail us and Socialism was a neglected pipedream.

The office was the cornerstone of any successful commercial establishment from corporate finance to trade. Technology has changed this. Cities in Maine

Located in the New England region of northeastern U.S.A., Maine is home to approximately 1.3 million Americans. Augusta is the state capital while Portland is the most populous area. It borders the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast, New Hampshire to the southwest and the Canadian providence of Quebec to the northwest and New Brunswick to the northeast. It is the easternmost state in the contiguous U.S. Famous for its scenery of rocky coastline and low rolling mountains with forested interiors. The seafood cuisine of the State is held in high esteem across the nation.

The territory was originally inhabited by the Wabanaki peoples that included the Abenaki, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscots.

In the year 1604 the French established a settlement and named the entire area Acadia. The English established a settlement at Popham in 1607. The coastal areas of Maine first became known as “The Province of Maine” in 1622. Due to the Popham and the Roanoke Colonies not being able to survive the harsh winters a second settlement was attempted at York in 1623 which is current day Portland, also unsuccessfully.

In 1652 the province became part of Massachusetts Bay Colony. The French and the English fought over the territory and the French were defeated with the colony falling under the authority of Nova Scotia in 1740. During the American Revolution and the War of 1812 the American and British forces fought for Maine’s territory and eastern Maine was occupied by British forces during both conflicts.

Upon formation of the United States of America the state was established as a part of Massachusetts. With rapid population growth and the separation from Massachusetts, Maine became the 23rd state in 1820 through the Missouri Compromise.

Poultry, eggs, dairy products, cattle, wild blueberries (largest blueberry producer in the world), apples, maple syrup and maple sugar are the major agricultural outputs of Maine. The commercial fishing industry which was once the mainstay of the state economy still is present with lobsters and ground fishing most prominent. Bottled water is nowadays a major growth industry for western Maine’s aquifers and springs supplying the bulk.

Paper, lumber and wood products, electronic equipment, leather products, food products, textiles, and bio-technology are the main industrial outputs of the state.

With a history of ship building Maine, Naval ship building and construction still remain integral to the economy. Tourism and outdoor recreation have increased steadily and the state is a popular destination for sport hunting, sport fishing, skiing, hiking and camping.

The Lewiston Maineiacs, Portland Pirates, Portland Sea Dogs and the NBA development team the Maine Red Claws represent the state in professional sporting leagues.
