Can multiple people receive the messages sent by email or SMS?

They can!  You can choose to have messages sent to numerous email addresses and cell phone numbers if you so wish.  On applicable plans, call transfer attempts can also be made to multiple people in a specified order.  Best of all, you always retain control and can edit these settings via your online portal.

Can I use your answering services temporarily, such as just for one week?

You absolutely can!  If you have a short-term need for help answering inbound calls – whether for a day, a week or a month – we can provide the solution.

Because we offer monthly subscriptions with no lock-in contracts and no cancellation fees, if you need a temporary answering service due to staff absences, an office closure, increased call volumes due to a promotion or seasonality, or any other reason, you can simply sign up for one month.

Then simply cancel as soon as you no longer require virtual receptionists to answer your calls.  Or better still, put your account on hold for a minimal monthly fee, so you’re all set up and ready to go whenever the need ever arises again!

On a call transfer, will the receptionist state who the caller is?

Yes!  Our receptionists always provide a warm call transfer, rather than a blind call transfer.

If your settings show as available for call transfers, the receptionist will place the caller on hold and attempt to dial you.  If you pick up, they will introduce themselves and advise the caller’s name to enable you to accept or decline the call.

If your settings show as unavailable for call transfers, or if you don’t answer the receptionist’s transfer attempt, the receptionist will advise the caller that you’re unavailable, take a message then send it to you.

How do I determine which answering service plan size is right for me?

Am I allocated a telephone number with my answering service?

Yes.  In fact, you can choose the number to be associated with your service – whether a local number or a toll-free number, for which additional charges apply.  You can then advertise this number or, if you have an existing business number you already advertise, you then simply forward calls from that number to your AnsweringService.com receptionist number.

How soon can I start to have receptionists answer my calls?

A few minutes, in most cases!  Our answering service free trial includes instant activation.  After that, simply follow the provided instructions to forward your number and our team of virtual receptionists can start answering calls for your business straight away.  Amazing, hey!

We also provide a handy onboarding guide to make things as quick and easy as possible to personalize your account setup.

The setup for MyAssistant may take a little longer and require assistance from our customer support team, depending on the complexity of your needs.

What’s the difference between the MessageExpress and Answer services?

MessageExpress is an extremely low-cost message-taking service, without any option for the receptionist to interact with your caller beyond greeting them and asking if they can take a message.  General business information cannot be provided and call transfers cannot be made.  Messages can be sent via email and/or SMS only to one individual or team.

The Answer service tends to provide a more seamless experience for callers, who are typically totally unaware the receptionist isn’t part of your in-house team or isn’t located within your business premises.  You can fully customize the greeting callers will hear, provide answers to common questions the receptionist may be asked and have multiple internal contacts receive messages and (when available and appropriate) call transfers.

Can I use my existing business phone number?

You certainly can.  Whether your business currently advertises a local number or a toll-free number, you can either:

  • Forward calls from that number to the Receptionist Number associated with your AnsweringService.com account
  • Request to port the number from your existing provider to AnsweringService.com, which may allow you to save costs

Can my subscription be scaled up or down depending on my needs?

It sure can!  Whether you’re finding you’re getting more calls or fewer calls than originally anticipated, you’re expecting a temporary increase in call volumes due to a promo or seasonality, or your business is growing, you have total flexibility when it comes to upgrading or downgrading your plan.  There’s no fee to switch between plans.  You can also switch between our different call answering services – MessageExpress, Answer and MyAssistant – at any time as your needs change.
